Insights from Ellen Raim, Founder of People MatterWe focus more on solving than preventing People problems.

Learning together and connecting is essential for any organization to grow, inspire and motivate employees. ChaiOne recognized this and partnered with Electives to create a comprehensive employee learning program focused on team building, manager training, DEI and soft skills. The program resulted in participants learning valuable skills and concepts while fostering community and a culture of inclusivity and growth.

The opportunity:

ChaiOne wanted to bring together their employees to grow skills, inspire, motivate and have fun while identifying opportunities to grow. Their focus topics of interest were related to team building, manager training, DEI and soft skills.

The solution:

An engaging and comprehensive employee learning program.

Working with Electives, ChaiOne planned a year of classes to be hosted once a month during lunch. The entire calendar of classes was communicated to employees in advance to generate interest and excitement. After each lesson, learning nudges were distributed to reinforce learning and growth opportunities.

Participants in the program learned a variety of skills and concepts, including:

  • Behaviors and attitudes that inspire or erode trust.
  • How to lead with influence through tactical negotiation and persuasion
  • The impact of individual and systemic trauma on negative belief systems and self-talk.

They also explored implicit bias, animal behavior's influence on human behavior, the outdated rules and habits we hold and the role of social media on our communication styles.

Through guided exercises and discussions, participants were able to answer essential questions about their strengths, areas of improvement and barriers to growth. They also explored the process of creative storytelling and the integration of courageous conversations into their daily lives to strengthen relationships personally and professionally.

The results:

Participant feedback highlighted the effectiveness and practicality of the program.

Participants were impressed with the program and expressed enjoyment of specific content, such as the "withdrawals and deposits" section, which taught them the importance of setting boundaries and expectations. They also appreciated the use of improv tools like "Yes, and" to facilitate conversation and felt that the techniques learned were applicable in many scenarios. The program was described as “great” and “an important opportunity to learn new skills,” with participants enjoying hearing the examples provided.

Participant feedback included:

  • “I thought it was great.”
  • “I learned an important new skill!”
  • “I loved hearing all the examples.”
