What you will learn:

The fear of being taken advantage of is one of the most crippling forces we face daily. Whether someone is attempting to socially engineer us for personal information, sell us a bad product or service, or scam us or a loved one out of their life savings, most of us are hesitant and on our guard. Luckily, there is a way to detect the behaviors of those who are trying to defraud and manipulate us.

In this course, I will walk you through the levers of influence and elicitation using one of my FBI spy recruitment operations as the learning backdrop. I will highlight the seven levers of influence and how I used them in the spy operation:

Reciprocation
Liking
Social Proof
Authority
Scarcity
Commitment and Consistency
Unity

We will examine an elicitation and social engineering example where critial personal information was compromised. With this new knowlegde you will be more aware of your surroundings and the people in it. You will be able to utilize this newly acquired knowledge as well as other strategies to detect and counter the people who are seeking to take advantage of you and those you care about.
