What you will learn:
This workshop is an opportunity to experience first-hand how mindfulness can be implemented to drive a more equitable and inclusive workplace. Practicing mindfulness naturally leads to equity and can be a starting point to address inequalities in the workplace because of its ability to support individuals in engaging in self and social awareness as we begin to focus on introspection, compassion, and resilience. We'll look at ways to move towards equity through evidence based tools that support overall wellness through music, movement, and short guided mindfulness practices.
About the instructor:
Curtis Smith is a former school leader and educator with over ten years of experience in New York City Public Schools. Throughout his tenure, he began as a special education teacher and went on to co-found one of the top-rated public middle schools in Brooklyn, New York. There he designed the mindfulness curriculum that’s infused into the foundation of the school's mission and culture.
The success and notable impact of the program led to his current work with school districts across the world. He served as a Mindfulness Consultant for Barack Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance in New York and Connecticut to create and facilitate district-wide workshops and mindfulness training.
Later in his career, Curtis took the leap to evolve his work towards social entrepreneurship, and he founded Moment of Mindfulness LLC; a methodology and company providing evidence based mindfulness tools and mental health education using music, movement, and meditation to schools and companies across the world.
