This class will provide the opportunity for her to share her tips for becoming the best public speaker you can be so you can take the mic with confidence. About the instructor:
Pam Roecker took over as Regis College Dean of Athletics in May 2017. With over 30 years of experience as a collegiate administrator and coach, she oversees the Pride athletic department consisting of 20 teams in NCAA Division III and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Prior to Regis, Roecker served as the Director of Athletics and Recreation for GNAC member Emmanuel College in Boston from 2003 to 2015 while also serving as an adjunct faculty member for Sports Management. She was recognized by her peers in the GNAC as the Executive of the Year in 2014-15.
Additionally, she spent two years (2015 to 2017) as the Athletic Director at Gann Academy in Waltham.
She also played a key role in the WNBA’s decision to hold their 2006 pre-draft camp at Emmanuel, which was held in conjunction with Boston hosting the Women’s Basketball Final Four.
Over the breadth of her career, Roecker also can boast extensive coaching experience. Her basketball resume includes assistant coaching positions at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and Seton Hall University.
In 1990, Roecker was named the head coach of the women's basketball team at Wagner College in New York City. The second winningest coach in Wagner history, Roecker was recognized as the New York State Division I Coach of the Year for 1997-98. In 1998, she was appointed the head coach for Loyola University in Chicago where she coached for one season before leaving for full-time administrative duties.
In addition, for the last 18 years, Roecker has served as a television broadcaster for college basketball games for the Atlantic 10, Big East, Colonial Athletic Association, and Northeast Conference, appearing on a variety of networks including ESPNU, Fox, CBS College Sports, MSG, Big East Digital Network, ESPN+, ESPN3, Comcast SportsNet and NESN. Over the last two seasons, Roecker has served as the lead analyst for the Providence College Friars for their home Big East contests.
Roecker has also been invited to participate in a number of events, including emceeing the WBCA/New Balance viewing party at the Division I Women’s Basketball Final Four for three consecutive years (2007-09). Also, for four consecutive summers (1999 to 2002), Roecker was the lead “coach on the floor” working with Shaquille O’Neal and Grant Hill at Nestle Crunch “Hot Shot” events. Her alma mater also asked her back to emcee their “No Limits” fundraising banquet for women’s athletics in 2004 & 2005.
Roecker graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. She was a two-time captain of the basketball team and a 1,000-point scorer, plus she is still the Phoenix’s all-time leader in single-game, single-season and career assists. In 1983, she became the University’s first female Academic All-American. In 1995, she was inducted into the University's Hall of Fame.
Roecker holds a Master's of Business Administration from Wagner, and a B.A. in communications from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
