What you will learn:

Diverse representation in the media is officially mainstream. According to Nielsen, “With 43% of the 75 million Millennials in the U.S. identifying as African American, Hispanic or Asian, if a brand doesn’t have a multicultural strategy, it doesn’t have a growth strategy.” Companies across the nation are undergoing internal and much-needed culture shifts to make their workplaces inclusive and equitable. And now, more than ever, and especially after the George Floyd protests in 2020, consumers have higher expectations for companies to be culturally aware and inclusive in not just their workforce and leadership, but also in their marketing, advertising and corporate citizenship. In this Elective, you will learn about the importance of inside-outside authenticity, starting with personal and organizational values. “The work” first starts with our own self-awareness. Together, we will then explore and expand on diversity, equity and inclusion best practices that touch the development and design of campaigns, content, communications and products in our everyday work. This Elective is great for managers and leaders and storytellers of all creative stripes and of all levels who care to center equity in their work and deepen their awareness. You will walk away with key principles to practice regularly and keep in your back pocket for your next campaign.
