What you will learn:
This highly practical seminar, aimed at senior management, addresses the issue of ethics in a global capitalist world. We discuss how global capitalism provides management with a host of ethical tensions. These tensions - both obvious and some less so - need to be identified and worked with so as not to radically impact the effectiveness of managers and leaders. The distinction between ethics and morality is clarified and the implications of this distinction explored.
During the seminar participants have an opportunity to gain greater self-understanding and self-awareness of their own values and how these shape the ethical climate of the organization. Through directed discussions and collaborative exercises, participants gain an insight into the ethical principles that dominate the organization's culture and their own contribution with these principles. Through open dialogue and discussion attendees have an opportunity to explore what makes for a “good” institution that grounds the ethical quest of the organization.
During the seminar an ethics framework is used to evaluate real life cases. Participants are taught how to use this practical and well tested framework.
· To understand the ethical tensions presented by the global environment.
· To provide an open forum for the discussion of values and ethical principles held to be important by the senior management team.
· To explore the ethical tensions between personal values and professional lives experienced by seminar participants.
· To examine the ethical and moral tensions intrinsic to the type of work performed by the organization.
· To discuss the ethical implications of the organization’s growth strategies.
