More than one in four transgender people report having lost a job due to transphobia and bias, and more than three-fourths have experienced some form of discrimination at work. This workshop is meant to provide an introductory educational overview on how to be an ally by supporting transgender and non-binary individuals in the workplace.
About the instructor:
Julian Damore is a seasoned People Operations professional and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) advocate who has worked in both startups and large organizations in the finance, cybersecurity, and marketing operations sectors.
After years of struggling with their gender identity, Julian came out as transgender at the age of 24. Transitioning in the workplace came with extensive challenges, and through this experience, they developed a commitment to educating others about the nuances of gender identity, the importance of pronouns, and inclusive language in the workplace and beyond. Through sharing their story with others, Julian has also discovered a talent for workshop design and facilitation.
Julian identifies as both queer and non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. In their free time, they enjoy long-distance backpacking and spending time with their fiancée and rescue dog.
