What you will learn:
Stepping into a new management position comes with a lot of new responsibilites, but one that gets too frequently overlooked is learning how to lead with emotional intelligence. This is often because emotional intelligence, or EQ, is thought of as a weakness, or simply a pleasant personality trait, instead of a strategic advantage.
However, according to research from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, managers with emotional intelligence traits create more postive and productive work experiences, while 70% of employees with managers who are low in emotional intelligence reported that their “primary feelings about work were negative.” As employees look for more emotional safety in their workplace (and leave when it's not there), teaching new managers how to use EQ is becoming table stakes.
In this course, participants will:
- Learn the fundamentals of emotional intelligence including self awareness, self management, other awareness, and relationship management
- Deep dive into four key traits for emotionally intelligent leadership: self-control, empathy, situational awareness, and inspirational leadership
- Receive take-home exercises to grow their self-awareness, set a leadership vision, and get to know their team in meaningful way
