What you will learn:

Transgender and non-binary people have become more visible over the last decade. We have all seen an increase in conversations, policies, and procedures in our workplaces. This fact, however, doesn't necessarily make it easier to discuss or understand because most people have never had the need to discuss gender-identity.

We generally assume a person's gender identity by how they look or express themselves. This highly interactive session encourages conversation around gender identity in the workplace.

Together we will explore...
- Identity - Gender identity and Sexual Orientation - Definitions - History of Gender - Gender Identity Spectrum - Personal Gender Experience - Discussion About Gender - Solution Forward Leadership - Pronouns - The Next Gen Workforce - Calls to Action - Q&A

About the instructor:

Gearah is a nationally-recognized inclusion and diversity consultant and LGBTQ+ subject matter expert who works tirelessly to focus on and illuminate the importance of discussing topics of race, gender, ethnicity, age, equity, disability, acceptance, and understanding. Her transgender life experience and people-first attitude encourage a positive learning environment that opens hearts and minds. Gearah is warm, approachable, engaging and always finds ways to bring people together.

A main focus of her work involves training within businesses, organizations, government agencies, hospital networks, law-enforcement personnel, and schools. Her training curriculum employs best practices as outlined in the WPATH Standards of Care and HRC's Corporate Equality Index.

Gearah employs techniques and practical advice that keep heavy corporate language out of the Inclusion & Diversity conversation. Most experts can cover the touch-points with measurable data sets and parameters, but can they have real conversations that will change the way people see and implement inclusive behaviors, policies, and procedures? Inclusion starts with honest conversations and Gearah is an expert at leading the type of conversations that quickly bring positive and lasting results.

Gearah is frequently quoted in the media supporting the narrative of accepting and protecting people who identify within the LGBTQ community. Over the last several years, her visibility has reached millions of people around the world. She has been featured in influential national media including: the TODAY show; The New York Times; Rolling Stone; NBC and CBS national news; Axios; The Chicago Tribune; NPR, and many other outlets. Gearah is often invited to speak at professional conferences, universities, and schools.

She is also co-founder of The GenderCool Project, www.gendercool.org, a national storytelling campaign that showcases successful and talented young people who identify as transgender and non-binary.
