What you will learn:
Whether you are aware of it or not, code-switching happens every day in the workplace, yet it's rarely ever talked about. What is it exactly, and why is it so prevalent? More importantly, how do we create work environments that eliminate the need for code-switching and allow all team members to communicate in their authentic and preferred style?
In this session, we'll answer these questions and more. Grounded in researched strategies employed by leaders of color who code-switch in professional environments, we will:
- Define what code-switching is and isn't
- Unpack the common causes of code-switching in the workplace
- Explore real examples of code-switching
- Identify strategies to minimize the need for code-switching while maximizing underlying lessons in effective communication
Designed for all types of teams and level of employee (leader, manager, individual contributor).
Whether team members code-switch or not, this session offers opportunities to uncover untapped potential grounded in empathetic and authentic communication.
