But what did freedom look and feel like for 4 million Black Americans who knew nothing but what it meant to be enslaved? What did the United States look and feel like fresh from a ruthless Civil War leaving it deeply hurt and inherently divided? What did these conditions engender in the American people and the socio-cultural make-up of the country?

About the instructor:

A Specialist in Decolonization, Shaunda Lewis is a social and spiritual entrepreneur and scientist committed to moving humanity into a brighter age. A dynamic visionary, innovator, and systems architect and alchemist, she is dedicated to developing the structures for all to be their authentic selves and thrive. A daughter of Caribbean immigrants to the United States, her unique perspective of belonging to multiple cultures, holding a plethora of distinct identities, and navigating social constructs that never made the space for her full self, allows her to understand the need to create spaces that work for us all. Shaunda’s primary enterprise, Stone and Grace, is focused on deconstructing antiquated systems, structures, and ways of thinking in order to build back better, anew, and create spaces that work for us all. She is in the business of decolonizing spaces, places, and people, and liberating hearts and minds to strengthen the individual and collective disposition to thrive. As a Black woman and first generation American from Greater Boston, Shaunda is an avid promoter of multi-culture and anti-racist best practice. A master facilitator, certified professional coach, and adult educator by trade, as well as historian and numerologist by training, she influences growth through building knowledge and consciousness.
