What you will learn:
Public speaking is one of the biggest fears that people have and yet we think of public speaking only as being on a stage or having a big audience. What would it be like to influence in every meeting and in everyday interactions? Our communication blind spots are likely getting in our way, causing us to miss opportunities -- and we don't even know it.
Whether you are an individual contributor or a leader of others, interviewing for a job or working toward a promotion, this Elective will teach employees how to stand out in their speaking style and presence. The goal is to be seen as an influential communicator.
This topic matters because we live in a world where the competition is fierce and for better or worse, the person with the best communication skills wins. It's the people who are likable, clear and concise that people listen to.
After leaving this Elective, employees will:
1. Know what words to avoid that hijack credibility (and what to say instead)
2. Discover how to use their voice to show confidence
3. Learn the PPU formula for how to introduce yourself
4. Practice how to stop rambling and get to the point
